Specifically, my schematic appropriation of normative portrait and landscape
formats in "Top Producers" juxtaposes San Francisco Real Estate
Agents and their "for sale" properties. Arguably one of
the most pervasive, albeit bland examples of how the Portrait/Landscape
format has permeated contemporary culture is the promotional realtor 'glamour-shot'
disseminated in Real Estate publications. By adopting this thematic
conceit I aim to expose the vacancy between these personae and the properties
they represent. Furthermore, just as the term "Real Estate"
seems to over-prescribe its own authenticity, it serves as a parodic model
for the elusive valuation of 'art' and how it is marketed.
